Tony Ferguson Confirms He Won’t Retire in Social Media Update

Tony Ferguson, despite a seventh consecutive loss and calls for his retirement, including from UFC CEO Dana White, insists on continuing his fighting career, as indicated by his social media post with the hashtag #NotRetiringCasuals.

Tony Ferguson isn’t throwing in the towel. Not yet.

“El Cucuy” faced a tough defeat at UFC 296 last Saturday. He lost to Paddy Pimblett by unanimous decision. It was a fight where Ferguson’s past brilliance barely flickered. Now, he’s on par with B.J. Penn for the UFC’s longest losing streak.

But Ferguson’s spirit remains unbroken. On Wednesday, he took to social media, defiant. No retirement on the horizon for him.

He shared a message on Instagram, with a twist. The hashtag? #NotRetiringCasuals. At 39, Ferguson’s patience wears thin with talk of hanging up his gloves. Whether in interviews or online, he pushes back.

Pimblett, post-fight, tipped his hat to Ferguson. He called the veteran a legend. “Keep fighting if that’s your wish,” he seemed to say. Dana White, UFC’s big boss, wasn’t as supportive. “I’d rather he retire,” White told the press.

Rewind to Ferguson’s heyday. A force in the lightweight division, unstoppable. Twelve wins in a row. He even snagged an interim title at UFC 216, taking down Kevin Lee. But that was then. Ferguson’s last victory? A distant memory from June 2019.
