Top strawweight fighters Jessica Andrade and Mackenzie Dern have been confirmed for UFC 295. The announcement was made on Saturday during the UFC 292 event held at TD Garden in Boston. Knowledgeable sources close to the fighters subsequently affirmed the information.
The involved UFC 295 event is set to occur on November 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The main event of the night will be a thrilling heavyweight title fight, where former champ Stipe Miocic will challenge current champion Jon Jones.
For Andrade, this represents another quick turnaround. She’s stepping back into action following a recent loss to top contender Tatiana Suarez. This defeat represents her third consecutive loss, having previously suffered a knockout at the hands of Xiaonan Yan during UFC 288 and a submission loss to Erin Blanchfield. Andrade, the former strawweight champion, has now lost six out of her last ten fights since failing to protect her title against the current champ Zhang Weili.
On the other hand, Dern is setting her sights on the strawweight title for the first time. Known for her skilled submission moves, she most recently scored a victory over veteran fighter Angela Hill, making a successful comeback from a loss against Yan. In her last five appearances, she’s alternated between victories and defeats.
