UFC 299: Philipe Lins vs Ion Cutelaba Matchup

Light heavyweight contenders Philipe Lins and Ion Cutelaba are set to face off at UFC 299 in Miami on March 9.

Miami’s about to witness a light heavyweight showdown. Philipe Lins and Ion Cutelaba, both top contenders in the light heavyweight category, are set to clash at UFC 299. The event’s scheduled for March 9 at the Kaseya Center, Miami. This exciting news was first reported by Marcel Dorff, and multiple sources have confirmed it with MMA Fighting.

Lins, a former PFL heavyweight champ, joined the UFC in 2020. His start wasn’t the best, losing his first two fights. But then, he dropped down to 205 pounds. Since then, he’s been on a winning streak, bagging three straight victories. His most recent win? A unanimous decision over Maxim Grishin at UFC Vegas 74.

Cutelaba’s been a constant in the UFC’s light heavyweight division since 2016. He once flirted with the top 15. But lately, things have been tough. He’s lost three of his last five fights. However, he bounced back in his last match, scoring a first-round TKO against Tanner Boser at UFC Kansas City.

UFC 299’s main event? A bantamweight title fight between Sean O’Malley and Chito Vera. There’s also a five-round co-main event featuring Dustin Poirier, the former interim lightweight champ, and Benoit Saint Denis. The full UFC 299 fight card is as follows:
