Well, UFC 300’s getting interesting, folks. We’ve got a second title bout in the works. It’s a BMF showdown between none other than Justin Gaethje and the ex-featherweight bigshot, Max Holloway.
But wait, there’s more. Jim Miller’s dream is coming true. He’s fighting at the big pay-per-view event. And guess who he’s up against? The seasoned Bobby Green. That’s right, UFC CEO Dana White spilled the beans on social media this Tuesday.
Mark your calendars, MMA fans. UFC 300 is happening on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Remember the women’s strawweight bout Dana White announced last week? It’s between champ Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan. That’s the first piece of gold up for grabs on the ESPN+ pay-per-view.
Now, let’s talk about Gaethje. He’s defending the belt for the first time. The UFC brought this belt back last year. Remember “The Highlight” versus Dustin Poirier at UFC 291? Yeah, that rematch. Gaethje knocked Poirier out cold with a head-kick, claiming the zinc belt. That belt was first thought up for the UFC 244 headliner between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.
Everyone thought Gaethje would be up for the real gold against lightweight champ Islam Makhachev. He should be ready to fight this summer. But nope, Gaethje’s taking on Holloway. Holloway’s been having a rough time getting back to the featherweight title. He’s had three losses to champ Alexander Volkanovski. But in his last fight, Holloway knocked out Chan Sung Jung. Miller’s getting back in the ring pretty quickly. He wanted this, and he got it. He submitted Gabriel Benitez last Saturday at UFC Vegas 84. After the fight, he asked for a UFC 300 bout against welterweight vet Matt Brown. He also wants Bruce Buffer, the longtime UFC announcer, to give him a special intro.
