UFC 301: Anthony Smith vs Vitor Petrino in Brazil

Anthony Smith is set to return to the UFC, facing off against Vitor Petrino at the UFC 301 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 4.

Anthony Smith’s back in the game. He’s set to face Vitor Petrino in the upcoming UFC 301 card. The event’s scheduled for May 4, smack dab in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Word of the match-up came from multiple insiders. They spilled the beans to MMA Fighting on Monday. Laerte Viana was the first to drop the news on Instagram, though.

Smith’s a constant threat in the 205-pound division. He’s coming off a loss, though, from his last bout against Khalil Rountree Jr. Took that fight on short notice, he did, back in December. Before that, he had a tough win against Ryan Spann. It was a real slugfest, but Smith managed to snag a split decision victory.

Petrino’s a different story. The guy’s undefeated, a real powerhouse from Brazil. He’s looking to score the biggest win of his career against Smith, a seasoned veteran and one-time title challenger. Petrino’s record in the UFC so far? An impressive 4-0. His latest victory was against Tyson Pedro, just this past March.

The fight against Smith is going to be a home game for Petrino. It’s all set to go down in Brazil, as the UFC makes its return to Rio in May.

Oh, and a quick shoutout to Guilherme Cruz. He helped out with this report.
