UFC News: Frankie Edgar vs Pedro Munhoz set for July 11

UFC

Former UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar will be changing weight classes. MMA Fighting Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin report that Edgar is moving down to bantamweight to fight Pedro Munhoz on July 11. Edgar confirmed Cruz and Martin’s report on Twitter.

Edgar was scheduled to have his bantamweight debut earlier this year against Cory Sandhagen. However, Edgar stepped in on short notice to fight Chan Sung Jung at featherweight at UFC Fight Night 165 on December 21, 2019. At 38 years old, Edgar is looking to become a title contender in the bantamweight division. A win over seventh-ranked bantamweight Munhoz can get Edgar’s name in the conversation as a contender.

Munhoz is looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238 on June 8, 2019. Before his loss, Munhoz was on a three-fight win streak. One of the wins was a TKO against former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 235 on March 2, 2019. He is still in the conversation as a possible contender in the division. A win over Edgar can remind everyone that Munhoz is still a threat at bantamweight.
