UFC Paris Updates: Muin Gafurov Drops Out, Hunt for Taylor Lapilus’s New Opponent Begins

Muin Gafurov had to withdraw from his scheduled UFC Paris bout against Taylor Lapilus due to visa issues, prompting the UFC to look for a new opponent for Lapilus.

Plans for Taylor Lapilus’ return to the UFC have suffered a challenge. Firstly, it has been confirmed that Muin Gafurov has had to pull out from the pre-planned bantamweight bout with Lapilus, which was due to take place upcoming Saturday at UFC Paris. Unfortunately, Gafurov’s withdrawal is due to problems associated with his visa.

La Sueur was the first to report this news. In response to these last-minute changes, the UFC is currently in the process of finding a new opponent for Lapilus in an attempt to keep him on the card. This match is significant for Lapilus as he is anticipated to compete for the promotion for the first time after a five-year break since September 2016.

Impressively, during his previous tenure with the UFC, Lapilus had a 3-1 record. His last victory was a unanimous decision over Leandro Issa. He has continued his fighting career in France, Canada, Russia, and Germany, with a winning record of 7-1 in his past eight fights. Meanwhile, Gafurov, a former LFA bantamweight champion and standout at ONE Championship, was hoping to secure his first UFC win following a unanimous decision defeat by John Castaneda in June. UFC Paris, scheduled for this Saturday at the Accord Arena, is set to be headlined by a heavyweight bout featuring Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivac.
