UFC News: Jussier Formiga vs Alex Perez Planned for UFC 250

UFC

UFC 250 is starting to come together.  Combate’s Raphael Marinho reports a flyweight matchup between Jussier Formiga and Alex Perez is in the works for UFC 250. Marinho also reports that both fighters haven’t signed a contract, both have verbally agreed to fight. UFC 250 will take place on June 6.

Perez will have an opportunity to become a title contender if he beats Formiga. He is on a two-fight win streak and is ranked ninth in the flyweight division. His last win was against Jordan Espinosa by submission at UFC Fight Night 166 on January 25. Perez’s only loss in the UFC was against Joseph Benavidez by TKO at the Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale on November 30, 2018. A win over Formiga can set up a rematch against Benavidez or make him the number one contender.

Formiga is looking to bounce back from his recent losses. He is on a two-fight losing streak but is ranked third in the flyweight division. His last loss was against Brandon Moreno by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 170 on March 14. Even on a two-fight losing streak, Formiga is still among the best in the flyweight division. A win over Perez can get Formiga back in the picture of flyweight championship contenders.

The UFC has yet to announce the fight. UFC 250 location is to be determined.
